GAVY 200 Foundation Certification: Gannon Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Apprenticeship (200 hours)

Become a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200-hour level

RYS-ATP-Logos

The GAVY 200 Foundation Certification is foundational training for serious practitioners and aspiring teachers, based on the traditional form of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. The way that GAVY founder, Michael Gannon, learned it during 10 years of visits to India, training with the living Guru, Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. BUT, we take a giant step forward, making this system digestible for the western mind. This GAVY 200 Teacher Apprenticeship foundation program has graduated over 300 teachers from 30 countries to teach yoga.

At GAVY we know that time on the mat is what develops a foundation to effectively share the magic of yoga. And the Ashtanga Vinyasa system is the ideal tool to start developing this deep practical experience. GAVY demonstrates how this is the original Vinyasa system that the yoga world has used to derive so many now popular flowing styles of yoga.

We use this pure, ancient and proven system to nurture the practice skills necessary to then develop teaching skills. It is being grounded in this structured system first, that allows Apprentices to then find their creative teacher inside as they grow toward becoming a yoga teacher.

GAVY 200 Foundation Certification Format

The GAVY 200 Foundation Certification is currently offered in an intensive program format.

Month Long Intensive
23 days straight. 8 hours per day. Drop your life for 100% focus! Go deep!

GAVY 100: Gannon Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga 2nd Series Teacher Training

2ND SERIES CERTIFICATION JANUARY 16-25, 2026

Even though the classical Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system consists of 6 different series, the most important is Primary Series. And actually, most people will spend their life content with working on only this Primary Series.

Only a small percentage of the practicing public will move beyond this level to practice Second Series and beyond. It is for this reason that the GAVY 200 Teacher Training (Gannon Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga) has always focused on only Primary Series. Since 2001, this training has certified over 400 teachers from many, many countries around the world.

Well, now we have decided the momentum has grown enough to justify offering serious practitioners and teachers the opportunity to move to this beyond! Gannon is now offering a GAVY 100 — Second Series Certification in Ashtanga!

This Ashtanga Second Series teacher training must be taught in a unique way!  A way that will respect the tradition of the Ashtanga system, while at the same time show trainees how to practice and teach it in a way that makes it more accessible and understandable to more students.

Upon successful completion of any GAVY or GPVY Teacher Training, trainees may accumulate hours towards the Gannon 500 as well as the Yoga Alliance RYT-500 recognition.

Gannon Power Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Trainings 2017

After 15-years of practicing Classical Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, as blessed by his late Guru, Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois, Gannon experienced the natural process of where tradition often leads other long-term yoga teachers. And that is evolution and freedom. The freedom to adapt what our own experience on the mat has lead us to discover and create for ourselves.

Challenge yourself to a powerful, vinyasa based practice that is not for the narrow minded and not for the weak. Always with the stimulating, rocking playlist that has becomes Gannon’s driver of a high-energy practice.

And, now you can learn to teach this same practice!

This is the same practice style that Michael Gannon has been teaching regularly at Yogaloft Playa del Carmen, since the yoga school opened in  2013.

These GPVY Teacher Trainings are newly developed certifications that are pre-registered with Yoga Alliance worldwide, LAIYLA Mexico and Yoga Alliance UK.
